last night was so eventful! for my dad that is. didnt know he led such an eventful life. hehe
anyway, cos he's the manager, he had to attend to this guy who went mad last night. like, he really did. he was strangling people and havent eaten or slept in 2 days. he was really hurting people. even my dad got a cut on his hand. =/
so it turns out he's too stressed out and hs no friends or whateva and always gets bullied. he worked till both feet are like bruised and blistered.
this morning, he's been sent to the mental hospital, cos even a jab didnt manage to calm him down.
we would forget about this incident, some of us may even laugh (ahem bert) but this guy's life is ruined forever. imagine the pressure, pain and loneliness he must have felt to be driven to such a state? for this, the people aroung him have to be accountable.
1) why does he have no friends?
2) even if he is anti-social, why is he bullied?
3) this guy showed signs of madness since 2 days ago, and he has roommates. why has the simplest act of concern of asking him what's wrong been shown? even in a professional capacity, his supervisor didnt ask him why did he not appear at work for two days!
(this is going to sound preachy now) we are all humans, and everyone has the right to be cared for. people advocate animal rights, but what about human rights?? why are basic acts of kindness and concern being denied this poor young man?! these should not be 'reserved' only for one's friends, only for the ones who have lunch with you or whateva. these are basic human rights. it is impossible to, but jst try to experience the desperation this man has had to go through.
and what benefits would bullying others give you? but a guilty conscience and momentary ill-gotten pleasure.
i can go on the whole day, but the rest of this 'speech' should be continued by each and everyone of us. we should all realize the fragility of life, and how we must care for each other.
seriously. from today onwards, lets jst try to accept and show even a little concern for the people around us. its times like this i feel that
silas marner may actually make some sense.
